Research areas:

  1. Molecular bases for the penetration of the herpes simplex virus into the cell
  2. Innate cellular response during the entry of the herpes simplex virus (HSV)
  3. Preclinical engineering and effectiveness of oncolytic HSV directed towards specific tumor receptors, as a single therapy or in combination with CPI
  4. Immunological characterization of murine tumor samples treated with oncolytic viruses.

Teaching activity:

Internship for the preparation of the experimental degree thesis for the undergraduate course in Molecular and Industrial Biotechnology

Instrumentation available:

  • Biosafety level 2 room for cell cultures, with a laminar flow booth, benchtop centrifuges, ultracentrifuge L-60 (Beckman), and CO2 incubators
  • Freezers at -80°C and containers of liquid nitrogen for cell culture storage
  • Molecular biology rooms with thermal cyclers, equipment for DNA electrophoresis, and microcentrifuges
  • Equipment for protein electrophoresis and Western blot (Bio-Rad Protein and Trans-Blot system)
  • Molecular imager ChemiDoc XRS+ with Image Lab Software (Bio-Rad)
  • Inverted fluorescent microscope (Nikon)
  • Direct motorized fluorescent microscope Eclipse Ni-E (Nikon)
  • Glomax Discover with injectors for reading plates (Promega)
  • Step One Plus – Real-Time PCR System (Applied Biosystem)
  • C6 Flow Cytometer (BD Accuri)
